[Warning: General spoilers ahead.[
The Chicken Sisters is back Sunday night for Season 2, this time around moving into its new permanent home on Hallmark Channel and streaming the next day on Hallmark+.
The large ensemble cast of Schuyler Fisk, Genevieve Angelson, Lea Thompson, Wendie Malick, Rukiya Bernard, Cassandra Sawtell, James Kot, Ektor Rivera, Samer Salem, Kelcey Mawema, Caitlin Howden, and Clifton Murray, plus narrator Margo Martindale all return, joined by new recurring cast members David James Elliott, Lochlyn Munro, and Matthew James Darden.

In the Season 1 finale, Amanda (Fisk) joined forces with her sister, Mae (Angelson), their mother, Gus (Malick), and her mother-in-law, Nancy (Thompson), to face off against her husband, Frank Jr. (Kot) in the final Kitchen Clash showdown, leaving him to fly solo. Deemed the underdog by Mr. Chicken (Murray), a successful restaurant chain owner tasked with casting the deciding vote, Frank Jr. was controversially crowned the winner.

Sabrina Skye (Bernard) the show’s host, quit in disgust, leaving her professional future in limbo. Amanda, Mae, Nancy and Gus opened their own fried chicken restaurants, Chicken Sisters, with an investment from Shawna (Howden) while Frank Jr. proudly opened his own establishment as a franchisee of Mr. Chicken’s Cluckery.

As the second season begins, everyone in Merinac is clucking (#SorryNotSorry) abut the upcoming premiere of the series and the Chicken Sisters restaurants are thriving while the latest Cluckery franchise isn’t doing the business they expected. While the Moore and Hillier women are all on even footing — with Nancy and Gus fast friends while doing their version of The Odd Couple — they’re all in for an awakening when the series starts to air and they and the world find out in real time exactly what was captured on film.

Elsewhere, Mae is knee-deep in wedding planning, which opens the door to some uncomfortable conversations with Gus, Nancy wonders what’s next for her on the personal front, and an almost-divorced Amanda is hyperfocused on Frankie as she nears empty nester status, but first they make room when Sabrina and her daughter, Linzey, land in town. Lea Thompson (who has also been directing Will Trent, among others) directs the premiere, written by Erin Gibson.

There will be a lot to unpack during the season’s eight episodes. The Chicken Sisters Season 2 premieres Sunday at 8 pm/7c on Hallmark Channel and and streaming on various outlets in the US, where it will also be available on Mondays at 3:01 am ET/2:01c on Hallmark+. Is Sunday premiere show going to air during this week as encore or such. Don’t have Hallmark+ and can’t record.
It doesn’t look like they will, but keep an eye on https://www.hallmarkchannel.com/the-chicken-sisters and if they program a marathon at some point, it’ll be listed there under the Showtimes button.
