Previewing The Chicken Sisters
[Warning: General spoilers ahead.] Alongside the flip from Hallmark Movies Now to Hallmark+, the rebranded streamer is debuting a host of new programming (more on that here), including its first episodic drama series, The Chicken Sisters. Adapted by Annie Mebane from the Reese’s Book Club pick of the same name...
Previewing Mrs. Davis
[Warning: General spoilers ahead.] Artificial intelligence (AI) is everywhere right now, and ChatGPT is the newest shiny thing. Vast majorities of people are beholden to the Siris and Alexas of it all, but what if that AI was all-knowing (and depending on who you ask, that’s not an if as...
The Americans: Ten Things I’m Thankful For
One of the things I probably enjoy most about FX is their fearless approach to storytelling. There are so many great shows on the network and at the very top of that list for me is The Americans. I never thought I’d root for two KGB agents, but it’s not...
Kara’s TV Goodness All-Stars 2013: The Americans’ Keri Russell
Complex, well-written characters are my kryptonite. I love them, but they might eventually be the death of me. Hmm, that was dramatic. But I can’t get enough of damaged people. I can’t get enough of actors brining nuance and pathos and humanity to these roles. They make me suspend my...
2011’s Most Memorable Episodes: Justified “Brother’s Keeper”
It was a bit difficult to decide which episode to pick as my favorite from Justified‘s stellar sophomore season. I decided to go with “Brother’s Keeper” for a number of reasons: Carol Johnson’s sizzling chemistry with Raylan; Boyd’s true return to form; Loretta finally discovering what happened to her father;...
Kara Talks Turkey: 3 Shows I’m Not Enjoying
Our name says it all: we’re TV Goodness. But every once in a while we have to talk about shows we’re not enjoying and why. This holiday season we thought we get into the spirit and “talk turkey” about some of the shows that are not now and will never...
2011 Emmy Watch
The 2011 Emmy nominations were announced this morning, and hot damn! did they get it right for so many new nominees. There were the usual snubs, which suck, but I’m focusing on the positive.
Justified’s Moment of Goodness: Mags Asks to See Loretta
I’m going to call this an ominous moment of goodness because Margo Martindale scared the bejesus out of me in this episode. It’s been building all season and she finally admitted it to Loretta tonight: she’s always wanted a daughter. She’s constantly disappointed in her sons and they’re constantly letting her...
Justified “The Moonshine War”
Raylan’s back in the saddle for season two and the premiere picks up at the moment last season’s finale ended, with Raylan, Ava, and Boyd pinned down as the shooting subsides. Daddy Crowder lays lifeless outside so Raylan tells Boyd to get Ava to safety, and we presume he does,...
Let’s Talk About Will Trent
[Spoilers for “The Blank Expanse of Nothing”] It’s been a minute since I’ve had a good, old-fashioned rant about a TV series, so I’m overdue. If you’ve followed me on IG the last few years (hi!), you know that I yell often and loud about my love for Will Trent....
Tim Rozon Looks Back on SurrealEstate
[Warning: All the spoilers ahead.] To close out our SurrealEstate coverage (for now), I chatted with Tim Rozon about Season 3 and getting the band back together. For the third season, production moved from Newfoundland to Ottawa, and Rozon was ready to dive back in. “We were in a...
George R. Olson Unpacks SurrealEstate Season 3
[Warning: ALL the spoilers ahead.] In case you missed the news last week, SurrealEstate has concluded with its third season, which aired last summer. On Friday, I spoke with series creator George R. Olson and series star Tim Rozon about saying goodbye to the show. You can read that piece...
George R. Olson and Tim Rozon Share Their Gratitude for SurrealEstate’s Run
Since SurrealEstate wrapped its third season six months ago, I’ve checked about once a week to see whether there was any news on cancelled or renewed. As long as there was no decision, there was still hope for a fourth season. This week, series creator George R. Olson let the...
Hulu’s Paradise S1 Weaves Past and Present to Unravel a Murder
One of the nice things about the symbiosis of the entertainment conglomerates is that sometimes streaming shows make their way over to linear outlets. Case in point: ABC has given Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building a primetime slot (after of course tweaking the language for FCC regs) during its...
Scott McCord Talks About Victor’s Expanding World in From Season 3
Closing out our From Season 3 coverage (which you can find here), in the second part of my conversation with Scott McCord, we talk about Victor’s new friendship with Sara, reconnecting with Tabitha, and what might be next for Victor when Season 4 returns in 2026. As we’ve talked about...
Dennis Heaton Talks Murder in a Small Town
Murder in a Small Town wraps its first season Tuesday night on FOX in the US and Wednesday night on Global TV in Canada. For US viewers, it’s been a neat addition to the usual FOX fare to have a slower-paced, small-town murder mystery with a parade of CdnTV peeps...
Harold Perrineau Talks From Season 3
[Warning: Includes spoilers for the Season 3 finale.] How are you doing, FROMily? That finale was A LOT. Thankfully we know we’re going to get more of this story, and you have a year and change to work on your Venn diagram deciphering the OMG WTFery of it all. Last...
Scott McCord Talks From Season 3
From the jump (pun intended), I’ve been a staunch advocate of Victor (and Scott McCord, who plays him), and this season, he’s been put through it. On the heels of sending Tabitha off into the unknown and having her return with his father, he unearths the long-suppressed memory that as...
Corteon Moore Talks From Season 3
From has always been really good about delighting us with mix-and-match character pairings, and this season, we’ve seen Jade and Tabitha, Sara and Victor, Henry and Victor, and Kenny and Acosta team up. As Ellis, Corteon Moore has spent a chunk of time this season paired up with Pegah Ghafoori...
What They Said: Three Revealing Conversations from Survivor’s Remorse “Closure”
WARNING: Spoilers for Survivor’s Remorse “Closure” The latest episode of Starz’s Survivor’s Remorse featured conversations that showed characters really digging deep into their thoughts, emotions and motivations.
Two Takes: The Catch “The Knock-Off”
Who can you trust? If this episode of The Catch was any indication, the answer is just about nobody. Betrayal was running rampant as Felicity (Shivani Ghai) arose from the dead to seduce-con Margot, Gretchen (Maria Thayer, Gotham, The Mindy Project) played gold-hearted Alice 2.0 before swindling Ethan, Tessa jumped...
What They Said: Favorite Quotes from Supergirl “Worlds Finest”
Oh, Supergirl. That ending was cold. But I can’t hate on you because the latest episode has quickly become one of my favorites.
What Lucifer Said: Favorite quotes from Supernatural “O Brother, Where Art Thou?”
Supernatural episodes are almost always funny but thanks to the dialogue and a certain man speaking said dialogue, I laughed a lot during “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” You know, when I wasn’t busy fearing for Sam’s life or wondering what in the world was going on with Dean and...
What They Said: Favorite Quotes from Supernatural “Angel Heart”
Okay, that was my favorite of all the Claire episodes. In the beginning I think this arc was a bit shaky, to be honest. But I think it ended strong and that’s thanks to the chemistry between the actors as well as the strength of the writing, courtesy of Robbie...
What They Said: Favorite Quotes from The Vampire Diaries “I’ll Remember”
Season 5 Episode 1: “I’ll Remember” Writer: Caroline Dries This is odd. It’s an episode of The Vampire Diaries and there’s only one favorite quote from Damon. Of course, he was only in one scene. There are a few Hallucination!Damon quotes included though. What were some of your favorite quotes...
