What better way to kick off the summer season on the small screen than with a show that takes place in the South of France?
On Cannes Confidential, it’s not all sun and fun on the French Riviera. There’s plenty of mystery and murder, too.
We gave you a heads up on this series a few weeks ago and now the sexy crime drama is finally about to premiere.
Here’s what you need to know about Cannes Confidential:

Fun Fact: It’s the first English-language procedural drama to be produced and set on the Cote d’Azur since the 1970s.

About Cannes: According to the Cannes Tourist Office, “Cannes, a resort town on the French Riviera, is famed for its international film festival. Its Boulevard de la Croisette, curving along the coast, is lined with sandy beaches, upmarket boutiques and palatial hotels. It’s also home to the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, a modern building complete with red carpet and Allée des Étoiles – Cannes’ walk of fame.”

- One of Cannes’ twin cities? Beverly Hills, California (makes sense, right?).
- 3 million visitors per year
- 56.3% of visitors come from abroad
- 30 clubs and discos
- 500 restaurants and cafés
- 31 private beaches with their own restaurant, 13 public beaches and 1 municipal beach
- 3 casinos: Casino Croisette, Casino 3.14 and Casino Les Princes
Series Synopsis: “Cannes Confidential is a high-concept detective series centered on the bicker-banter relationship between no-nonsense detective Camille Delmasse (Lucie Lucas) and charming international conman Harry King (Jamie Bamber). Thrown together solving crimes on the French Riviera, Camille and Harry’s relationship lies at the heart of the show against a luxurious Cannes backdrop. Camille and Harry’s chemistry is complicated by Camille’s colleague and wing-woman, Léa Robert (Tamara Marthe), and a deal they make to free Camille’s ex-Chief of Police father from corruption charges.”

“The series will introduce viewers to a rarely seen view of Cannes, beyond the yachts and A-listers, with its fishing boats, local tradesmen, and working-class characters. These two worlds and two versions of reality will collide and be reflected in the personalities of the two main characters.”
Premiere Facts: The series premieres Monday, June 26 on AcornTV (AMC Network’s Streaming App that features British and other international TV options)
- The First Two Episodes drop Monday, June 26
- Two More Episodes drop Monday, July 3
- The Final Two Episodes drop Monday, July 10
THE CAST/CHARACTERS
Lucie Lucas aka Detective Camille Delmasse

- The Character: Camille Delmasse is a dogged French detective who doesn’t tolerate BS. She’s good at her job but, this season, it’s going to be hard for her to stay focused. Her dad’s currently in prison and his innocence is very much in question. She has to deal with a new face in the South of France. Harry King’s a bit shady so his trustworthiness is very much in question. She also has a couple of potential love interests / partners in crime-solving. So consider Camille’s willingness and readiness for a substantial relationship very much in question.
- The Actor: Lucie Lucas is primarily known for her TV work starring in Murder in Acquitaine, La petite femelle, Gloria and Clem. What’s cool about Clem is its concept. It tells the story of the life of a girl who became a mom at 16. It started out as a TV movie in 2010 and because it was a hit it has continued. Ever since 2011, the show has aired one season a year, most recently having aired in 2022. So as Clementine has grown and evolved so has the show.
Jamie Bamber aka Harry King

- The Character: Harry King is both hot and shady at the same time. The con man materializes on the scene and in Camille’s life seemingly at every gorgeous location where there is a crime. Camille doesn’t know what to do with this guy, who’s clearly holding on to some secrets. He doesn’t really give her the time to find out. The two can’t seem to stay out of each other’s vicinity no matter how much Camille wants to put distance between them. Yup, Harry’s mysterious, charming, a bit of a clinger, but don’t give up on him, the character has depth. He doesn’t just live in the shallow end of the pool.
- The Actor: It’s so good to see Jamie Bamber in this glitz-and-glam environment. Of course, so many of us know him from his Captain Apollo days on Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica. Post-BSG, he was one of the lawyers in the Brit crime-and-legal combo drama Law & Order: UK. And he was once married to Ellie Bishop on CBS’ OG NCIS. More recently, he was in BBC1’s Beyond Paradise playing Archie Hughes.
Tamara Marthe aka Léa Robert

- The Character. Léa Robert is Camille’s smart, resourceful, tough-as-nails partner. She’s a fierce fighter… and a lover. In fact, she and Camille have a bit of shared chemistry going on, but will the detective duo do anything about it? On top of that, how does Harry’s presence affect their dynamic?
- The Entertainer: What can’t Tamara Marthe do? As an actor she can be seen in the tenth season of the French crime drama, Profilage (in the U.S., it’s known as The Paris Murders). In 2011, she won the second season of the French version of Dancing with the Stars called Danse avec les Stars. During this season she competed as her musical alter ego, Shy’m.
As Shy’m, she’s been called the French Rihanna, having guested on hip-hop tracks. Her musical style, a mixture of pop and R&B, can be heard on several of her own albums including her 2006 debut, Mes Fantaisies, which hit the French top ten. Here’s one of her music videos:
CANNES CONFIDENTIAL EPISODE DESCRIPTIONS (for the first two episodes)
Episode 1 – “Death of a Jester” (June 26)

Cannes detective Camille Delmasse (Lucie Lucas) is trying to solve the murder of a young street artist known as the Jester. During the investigation with her trusted sidekick Lea Robert (Tamara Marthe), Camille keeps running into the charming, but equally shady art collector Harry King (Jamie Bamber). It appears the dead artist had many enemies. Meanwhile, Camille’s father, the respected former Chief of police Philippe Delmasse is about to be cleared from corruption charges. But there are secrets being unraveled: Harry isn’t really an art collector, and regarding Philippe, Camille’s world is about to be turned upside down. Does Harry know who is behind the framing of her father Philippe? Camille intends to find out.
Episode 2 – “Creatures of Habit” (June 26)

The wife of Casino owner Maxine Beauregard is poisoned to death in front of his friends and assistant. Camille (Lucie Lucas) and Lea (Tamara Marthe) are called to the scene, and all suspicions point toward the blacklisted gambler Roxie Roland. The problem is, there is no proof. After their mutual deal, Camille teams up with Harry (Jamie Bamber), trying to solve the murder. As a conman, there is no one better suited than to take down another con woman. But as the evidence and the suspects pile up, it takes a high-stakes poker game to unravel the truth. With Camille’s father in prison, Harry keeps his end of the bargain and gives Camille the name of the man threatening her father. He is already in Cannes.

Expect this drama to double down on danger, action, mystery and thrills. Cannes Confidential also showcases of the area’s spectacular hotspots and, possibly, even hotter romance starting Monday, June 26. Look for the six-part series to stream on AcornTV.
