Previewing Welcome to Valentine

[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

All roads lead to Valentine as Hallmark Channel keeps Loveuary going all month long with Saturday’s premiere of Welcome to Valentine. Kathryn Davis stars as Olivia, a struggling artist who’s in her second year in NYC, crashing on the couch of her BFF, Tess (Sophie Bastelle), and crashing and burning as a cater waiter when the universe nudges her toward a reset.

Welcome to Valentine

A native of Valentine, Nebraska, which takes its namesake holiday very seriously, Olivia is pining to go home for the annual parade, which seems an impossibility until Tess lands a gig in Chicago and announces she’s vacating the apartment to relocate.

Welcome to Valentine

Suddenly adding homeless to her roster, Olivia takes Tess up on her offer to have her cousin, George (Markian Tarasiuk), who’s in town to pick up a vintage car and drive it back to LA, drop them off in Chicago and Valentine on the way.

Of course, that doesn’t go exactly to plan when George hits a snafu with the car once they reach Valentine, so he gets a rapid immersion into Olivia’s hometown, family, and friends, and realizes there might be something to the small-town life that’s eluded him in LA.

Welcome to Valentine

Olivia reconnects with her sister, Vanessa (Kara Duncan), who’s faced her own challenges assuming the leadership of the parade, and recognizes that home is still very much where her heart is, and where she can return to when the life she dreamed about hasn’t exactly come to pass.
