It’s Complicated: Horrible Dating Advice Given and Taken, Hart of Dixie “Gumbo & Glory”

I am really enjoying the camaraderie I see developing between mayor Lavon Hayes and resident bad boy Wade Kinsella. But even more than that, I’m enjoying these two men shirtless in the picture above. We haven’t seen this scene yet but we will in this week’s upcoming episode entitled “In Havoc and in Heat.” I’m getting the feeling it’s gonna be a hot and sticky episode, with a whole lot of glistening chests. I’m really looking forward to that. Until then, I hope to tide you over with a little discussion about the evolving friendship between Levon and Wade as well as the complicated romantic entanglements in Bluebell.

How are Wade and Lavon so clueless when it comes to women? Considering the ridiculous advice Wade gives and Lavon takes regarding dating and women, it’s a wonder these two have ever had sex much less relationships. Looks go a long way obviously, but I love that these two guys are pretty darn clueless when it comes to women. Women can be just a tiny bit more perceptive, but that’s only when they’re trying. Of course Lemon is purposely giving Didi bad advice, but at least she knows it’s wrong. Exhibit A: Wade tells Levon to ignore Didi. He says women like that. Exhibit B: Lemon tells Didi not to thank Lavon right away for the roses. But along with the bad, is the really good. Exhibit A: Wade secretly cooks gumbo for Zoe, knowing she needs something to lift her spirits. Exhibit B: Lavon gets Didi a job as George’s assistant to keep her in town.

It’s clear Wade cares about making Zoe feel like she fits in. And it’s also clear how much she’s underestimated him – at least, to us. Although I love her chemistry with George, there just something about Wade that makes me think he’s not that wrong for her. He’s hot, but he’s got a pretty good heart underneath all that bravado. As far as Lavon goes, it’s clear that he’s still pining for Lemon. I don’t know what broke that secret relationship up, but I hope we find out what it is soon. I’m rooting for them to get back together but not immediately. I think Lemon has some serious maturing to do before she’s really ready for Lavon Hayes. In the meantime, it’s not fair for Lemon is interfere with Lavon’s love life. If she can’t bare to see him with Didi she needs to have a come-to-Jesus moment and decide whether or not she belongs with him. George deserves better than to be with someone who doesn’t really want him. Yes, she likes the idea of George and what he represents but does she really love him. I feel like Zoe’s making some progress – both professionally and personally – but is she really committed to making things work in Bluebell. What will have to happen to make her stay for more than a year. Can anything keep her away from Manhattan? As I said earlier, things are getting complicated.

Hart of Dixie airs Mondays at 9/8c on the CW.
