Previewing Journey to You

[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

Saturday night on Hallmark Channel (and streaming the next day on Hallmark+), Erin Cahill stars in Journey to You, the latest DaySpring partnership. Filmed in and around Madrid, Segovia, and Santiago de Compostela Spain, the film follows Monica, an American ER nurse, who slows down and reconnects with herself and her history while making space for new relationships when she joins fellow travelers on the pilgrimage of walking the Camino de Santiago.

Journey to You

Once she arrives in Spain, she teams up with three generations of men — Luis (Superman & Lois‘s Erik Valdez) and his father, Ernesto (Pep Tosar) and his teen son, Mateo (Solal Bellaiche) — and their guide, Consuelo (Isabelle Bres). Initially determined to walk the Camino like she’s checking off a box because it’s a vacation forced upon her by her well-intentioned mother, who walked it years earlier with her late father, she eventually recognizes that the titular journey is much more important than the destination.

Journey to You

Gifted with a devotional from her dad, and guided by Consuelo’s practical, tough-love approach, Monica slows down enough to look inward instead of outwardly chasing the goals that have eluded her. She also finds a sense of community and kinship with Consuela and Luis and his family as they share their stores while they live and travel together.

Journey to You

Hallmark regular Terry Ingram directs a script by John Eliot Jordan and Carlie Mantilla-Jordan (their first for Hallmark). The DaySpring production has a faith-based element that’s a throughline of Monica’s journey back to faith in herself and something larger, but it’s a story for everyone, especially when things can feel so wildly out of control in the world right now. Amid the din, it’s a lovely respite about calming the noise and reclaiming who you are and what’s important to you. That’s always a welcome message.

Journey to You

Journey to You premieres Saturday, April 19th, at 9 pm/8c on Hallmark Channel and streams the next day on Hallmark+, which is offering a half-price subscription promotion in tandem with the premiere (see below, it’s available through Saturday). Here’s a sneak peek.
