[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]
UP Television’s Ties That Bind concludes its first season Wednesday night with an episode that brings the entire family together at the prison for an emotional visit with Matt before settling into a grittier crime of the week than normal as the heroin trade explodes in the community in a way that ties (no pun intended) right back to the police department.
While Allison deals with that day job drama, Jackie overreaches in her attempt to make Cameron’s track banquet the best night ever, which goes about as well as you’d expect, and Matt works on his own pacification project.
It’s a solid conclusion to a solid first season, even if one trajectory is a bit disappointing (although not at all unrealistic). It sets up new professional and personal dynamics if the show returns for a second season, which I hope it does. A bonus for the Matt and Allison fans–we get two very sweet, affectionate scenes of them together.
