Another week, another exciting episode. I love that the contestants got to create an original superhero this week. Some of the artists were really able to shine, while others seemed so lost and not at all confident in their skills. I’m going to focus on the top three looks this week because I think each artist did something really unique and interesting.

The Winning Look: Anthony Kosar’s The Infernal Core

He won both the foundation and spotlight challenges last week and now he’s won again. This guy is a force to be reckoned with. His makeup skills are outstanding. I liked the look of his superhero. I kind of wish he’d had time to get the chest and back pieces done, but as Neville said he was able to make lemonade out of lemons. I’m really looking forward to seeing what he puts forth next week.

She looked kind of gross to me, but also really cool. I like that House did something different, something a little more influenced by anime. His atheistic is cool and weird. Is it too sci-fi? Too horror? Maybe, but I like that she’s looking for revenge against those who’ve wronged her.

I love that he went retro. He managed to do some very impressive work and really make his character seem fully realized. I liked the “transparent” pieces of this design where we could see brain and lungs. It added something bizarre, yet visually arresting to his work.

It was nice to see some of the DC artists work with the contestants to help visualize their superheroes.

What did you think of this week’s challenge? Did the right person go home? Were there any other superheroes you liked?

Face Off airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Syfy.
