Nikita’s Dark Side Revealed in “Wrath”

There was so much goodness in this episode:

Sean in vengeance mode. I was so sad to see Alberta Watson‘s senator Madeline Pierce killed. We knew how much Sean loved his mother and although he didn’t always like her, he took his job of protecting her seriously. Alex is there and wants to help him mourn but he’d not having any of that until he makes Nicholas pay. And when he does, there’s a nice, emotional scene between Sean and Alex at the cemetery.

Birkhoff and Michael’s little sparring chat. First of all, I love that they’re sparring. When I think of Birkhoff “computer geek” is the first thing that comes to mind, but it’s nice to know he’s got some fighting skills. To hear them talking about Nikita and Michael’s relationship wasn’t at all surprising. We know how much this tight-knit group cares for one another. It’s just nice to see that Birkhoff is as invested as we are.

And the most exciting development? Seeing Nikita go darkside.

No one’s surprised that Nikita has a dark side. In order for her to be so successful at Division for so long and in order to stay alive during and after Division, I assumed she’s done some bad things. Really bad things. But I didn’t realize how badly those things damaged Nikita. When she starts to apologize, Nicholas thinks he’s making progress. But Nikita’s only sorry she didn’t take his other eye and his tongue since he’s talking her to death.

When she tells Nicholas she deserves whatever he dishes out, I was surprised. And when Michael shows up and she unleashes on him, I was shocked yet heard a serious ring of truth in everything that she said to him. She thinks Michael’s always got to do the right thing. He always makes the noble choice. But those are good qualities to have, not bad. And to give himself up to be with the woman he loves – even if it only means they’ll die together? It seriously tugs on the heartstrings. But that she thought herself lost? That she was willing to die for the sins she’s committed in the past? To think that she thinks she’s not worthy of being saved? Wow. I love dark and this episode didn’t disappoint.

It was a relief that her team figured out where she and Michael were. The world is definitely a better place without Nicholas in it. And this episode has finally reunited Nikita and Michael. I think they’re stronger than ever now; nothing and no one can break them apart. But more than anything, I’m excited about Nikita’s renewed vendetta against Percy. He is a monster and I’m going to enjoy seeing Nikita and her team take him down.
