Previewing SurrealEstate: “Perchance to Dream”

[Warning; General spoilers ahead.]

After last week’s surprising heartbreak, this week SurrealEstate finds the crew processing their grief through a crowdsourced haunting. When a software engineer (Slasher‘s Patrice Goodman) dies suddenly with no heirs, she starts dreamstalking Susan, Lomax, Augie, and then Luke. Once they huddle up, they put together the pieces and help her rest.

Susan and Lomax’s flip house turns out to need its own cleansing when those bricks they got a deal on reveal themselves to have some baggage. They get an unlikely, magical assist when they try to return them and the seller initially balks.

Luke starts to see Tyler’s true colors when he’s less than human about the agency’s loss. Susan has much better luck with her new friend, Crash, who seems more and more like a legitimately good, and good for her, guy. It’s a very sweet, reverent episode as everyone takes a beat to reset while helping one of their otherworldy clients do the same.

“Perchance to Dream,” written by Thomas Pepper and directed by TW Peacock, is the eighth episode, with just two left in this gift of a season.

SurrealEstate Season 3 airs Thursdays at 10 pm/9c on Syfy in the US. The first two seasons are now streaming on Hulu. For our Canadian friends, you can catch Season 1 and 2 on Crave, and Season 3’s sixth episode, “Battleground,” airs this Thursday on CTV Sci-Fi. Here’s a sneak peek, and ICYMI, all our coverage for SurrealEstate is here.
