Break out the hot chocolate, ugly sweaters, competition-ready cookies, spruced-up golf carts and the decorating citations. Especially those decorating citations. Haul out the Holly: Lit Up is about to light up Hallmark Channel.

One of Hallmark Media’s most popular movies last year was Haul out the Holly, a superfun romp and romance starring Hallmark faithfuls Lacey Chabert and Wes Brown. Featuring a neighborhood whose holiday spirit was cranked up to oh about a thousand. Viewers responded making it the #1 most-watched cable movie of 2022 among Women 25-54.

The film did so well it earned itself a sequel. In Haul out the Holly: Lit Up, Chabert, Brown, their neighborhood and, most importantly, their HOA board have a new foe. And, surprisingly it has nothing to do with someone’s lack of Christmas spirit. A new family moves in (Jennifer Aspen and Seth Morris) and the action devolves into a who does Christmas better kind of unofficial competition. Technically, it’s a ‘who does it better, who does it bigger, who does it louder and prouder’ kind of competition.

What You Need to Know about Haul out the Holly: Lit Up

The Synopsis: Emily and Jared lead the Evergreen Lane HOA toward another successful Christmas season as they prepare for new neighbors. When the family moving in turns out to be holiday royalty, The Jolly Johnsons, it looks like this year’s competition is about to heat up.

  • This time around, Chabert’s Emily starts the movie fully integrated into the ways of Evergreen Lane and its neighbors. She’s all about the spirit of the holiday, the spirit of the competition and the spirit of the HOA rules.
  • While Brown continues to tap into his fun and silly side as Jared, his character also has something else on his mind.
  • Get ready for the new neighbors to have an immediate effect on the Evergreen Lane residents. Things will be a bit divisive at times.
  • The movie was actually filmed in Utah, much like the OG flick.
  • There’s another great cameo à la The Santa Summit as well as Chabert’s other holiday movie, A Merry Scottish Christmas. Just know that it comes towards the end of the movie
  • In addition to Chabert, Brown, Aspen and Morris, other cast members include: Stephen Tobolowsky; (Ned) Melissa Peterman (Pamela); Ellen Travolta (Mary Louise) and Laura Wardle (Belinda) and Carrie Morgan (Gail)
  • In A Merry Scottish Christmas, Chabert was reunited with her Party of Five co-star Scott Wolf. The two played brother and sister — Bailey and Claudia — on the late great drama. In fact, their holiday movie had fun paying homage to their sibling partnership…
  • Meanwhile, in Haul out the Holly: Lit Up, is reunited with another Party of Five co-star, Jennifer Aspen. Aspen played one of Charlie’s (Matthew Fox) love interests.

Haul out the Holly: Lit Up premieres Saturday night at 8:00 pm ET/PT on Hallmark Channel and streaming on multiple outlets in the US and on W Network in Canada. Here are a couple of sneak peeks…
