[Warning: General spoilers ahead]

This week on Hell on Wheels, we get a two-track episode that splits the focus between the fallout from last week’s aggression against the Chinese and the folks back in Laramie, Wyoming. We revisit old friends Mickey, Eva, Psalms, Louise, and Durant and find things are running just as rough and tumble as they were in Cheyenne, before they moved down the line, but Bohannon’s absence is felt.

The Truckee arc is surprisingly poignant as Bohannon finally realizes the depths of the isolation and loss that the Chinese feel being so very far from home. We also watch as The Swede continues to spin up Brigham Young’s ambitious son. I’m guessing that’s going to intersect with his armory at some point. And Stagecoach Mary (newcomer Amber Chardae Robinson, who is badass and awesome) returns. It’s definitely a full hour.
