First up, housekeeping! Motive‘s Canadian network, CTV, renewed the series for a third season last week. We don’t know yet whether ABC will pick it up but if Rookie Blue is any indication of successful Canadian/ABC summer partnerships, it looks good.
Tomorrow night’s episode, “Overboard” has Guest Star Goodness with Eureka‘s Niall Matter (he’s also on deck for TNT’s pilot Guilt by Association), 24’s Carlos Bernard, and Julie McNiven, a familiar face from Supernatural. Matter is very good in a multi-layered role. Funnily enough, his Eureka love, Erica Cerra, pops up in an episode in a next week.
The case of the week is a seemingly disconnected murder that’s tied to an old need for vengeance. Alongside that, Angie is sorting through having Cross as her boss.
Here’s the official logline: When a stunning socialite drowns after a celebration aboard a yacht, Detectives Flynn and Vega are faced with a number of potential suspects. The case seems to be solved, but as tension continues to build between Angie and Sergeant Cross, the investigation leads them to an unlikely killer with an unexpected motive.
And here’s a sneak peek. Motive airs Wednesday night at 10/9c on ABC.
