Reality Fix: ANTM All-Stars “Game”

I am so happy Alexandria’s time on ANTM has finally come to an end. I was never a fan, although I think there is something to be said for Alexandria’s confidence and drive. It’s not every day you meet someone who thinks they can do anything and who also sticks up for themselves when bullied by someone in the house (have I mentioned how glad I am that Bianca’s gone too?). But Alexandria could often take that confidence too far. She often failed to listen to directions and suggestions and that always hurt her in the end. She’s a model. If she can’t listen to what the director/photogrpaher/client wants then she’s in the wrong line of business.

I, like everyone else, have always thought Allison is a bit strange. It’s hard for a shy person to come of their shell and I think she did a great job of exposing herself emotionally and making herself more relatable this week. It was definitely a struggle for her but it obviously paid off. I hope we continue to see her emerge from that shell.

I was also really impressed with Lisa, but I think she put way too much pressure on herself this week. I thought her song and video were incredibly high energy and I loved the performance element this challenge brought out in her. I think my problem is I don’t look at Lisa and think model, although that can probably be said for quite a few of the girls still in this competition. I’m glad she did well and I hope she sticks around for at least a few more weeks. I don’t think she’s going to be the one to win it all though.

The only other person, besides Alexandria, who really disappointed me this week was Angelea. What a hot mess. This is the first week I’ve loved her styling and look but her performance was atrocious. I think Game and Jay Manuel gave her great direction and even tried to help with her motivation, but sometimes all you get from her is vacancy – nothing in the eyes, nothing in the performance. And her song was so strong so it was especially disappointing that she was so weak. It’s all well and good to realize how badly you performed after the fact but what if she’d been eliminated this week? What good would that hindsight have done for her then? I need Angelea to step up her game but I have to admit I wouldn’t be upset to see her go home next week.

I’m still enjoying Dominique, Laura, and Shannon. I’m really looking forward to seeing how Greece treats all the ladies.

America’s Next Top Model All-Stars airs Wednesdays at 9/8c on the CW.
