[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

And we’re back! Following a doozy of a first-season finale that left the team beaten and bruised–and the Master the same–we pick up in the aftermath as they’ve settled into Fet’s newly-reinforced warehouse, which they now call home.

Everybody’s trying to figure out what it means that the Master survived. Eph is falling back into old habits since he’s essentially a failed vampire hunter, and he and Nora dive back into their medical training to look for another way.

We get an old-school Setrakian childhood flashback with a dinnertime story that’s still relevant to him today, and he has an important, enlightening meeting that sends the gang on a field trip. Eichorst reminds Palmer of his place in the org chart, and Kelly is about to learns her, too.

I loved getting back to these characters, who’ve been thrown together amidst what one calls a vampire apocalypse, as they figure out their relationships to each other and their roles in this new world. Fet is downright adorable as he makes a fuss over an unwilling Setrakian, and Dutch and Eph work on balance when he’s presumptuous about leaving Zach (a recast Max Charles) with her.
