[Warning: Spoilers in the article and previews.]
I’m always sort of curious about how reveals are played out on TV shows. Behind the scenes, everybody knows who is or isn’t back, but there’s a sleight of hand to communicating that to the viewers. When season four kicked off, they were super cagey about Elam’s fate, and whether Common would return. I felt like he must, so why the secrecy?
Here we are at episode 6, and the very title of the episode, “Bear Man,” and the previews, would indicate Elam is back (yay!), but what shape is in? And what is real? AMC is putting Common front and center in all the advance clips, and he’s live Tweeting the East Coast feed tonight at 9/8c. I haven’t watched the episode because I wanted to watch it unfold live with everyone else. I hope it’s awesome. Multi-hyphenate director and actor Clark Johnson directed, and Anson Mount Tweeted last night that it’s an amazing hour of TV.
Here’s the official logline: Following a vicious attack by a bear, Elam struggles to survive in a Comanche village and find his way back to Cheyenne.
