Premature Infatuation: CBS’ Intelligence [VIDEO]

Show: Intelligence
Network: CBS
The Concept: Focuses on U.S. Cyber Command and focuses on a unit that has been created around one agent with a very special gift — a microchip has been implanted in his brain that allows him to access the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

First of all, let me just say, that I’m not completely sold on the concept. It’s something I’m going to have to see before I decide if I believe. It sounds a little like a super drama-fied version of Chuck meets Syfy’s Alphas (well, the Gary character anyway). But guess what? I watched and adored both those shows. If you watch the preview (below), they say it’s a Six Million Dollar Man for today’s world. That’s a sure way to get me to watch Intelligence. But they’re just preaching to the choir. Because there’s already one big reason why I am jones-ing for this show to start sooner rather than later:

Josh Holloway

Character: Gabriel. He’s a high-tech intelligence operative enhanced with a super-computer microchip in his brain. With this implant, Gabriel is the first human ever to be connected directly into the worldwide information grid and have complete access to Internet, WiFi, telephone and satellite data.  He can hack into any data center and access key intel in the fight to protect the United States from its enemies.
Why I’m Excited: Lost ended three years ago. I need Sawyer back on my small screen big time. Did you guys catch Holloway in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol? He was so good in the tiny amount of time he appeared in that movie. So happy he’s about to grace us with his presence on TV once again. Unfortunately, we’re all going to have to wait until mid-season. I can be patient. Sort of.

While I’ve got my eye on  Holloway, there are a couple of Josh’s fellow cast members I’m beyond excited to see on this show. Beyond.

Marg Helgenberger

Character: Lillian Strand. Leading the elite government cyber-security agency created to support him is Director Lillian Strand, a straightforward and efficient boss who oversees the unit’s missions.
Why I’m Excited: The ex-CSI star sticks with the CBS family and I’m excited to see her in a fresh new role. After all she did play Catherine Willows for almost 12 seasons. As an actress, Helgenberger’s always cool, fierce and sexy. I’m sure she’ll bring all of that as her character takes on a leadership role on Intelligence.

Meghan Ory

Character: Riley Neal. Lillian Strand assigns Riley Neal, a Secret Service agent, to protect Gabriel from outside threats, as well as from his appetite for reckless, unpredictable behavior and disregard for protocol.
Why I’m Excited: Are you kidding me? Ory was wasted on Once Upon a Time where she played Ruby/Red. There were a couple of Red-centric episodes in two seasons, that’s about it. But I really like this former Higher Ground actress who has also guest starred on Dark Angel and Supernatural. I can’t wait to see what she gets to do as one of the leads of a show.

Look for Intelligence to debut in early 2014. I’ll be watching. Will you?
