Previewing Legend of the Lost Locket

[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

The Hearties are two for two with this weekend’s Spring Into Love premiere on Hallmark Channel. Headlined by When Call’s the Heart‘s Natasha Burnett and Viv Leacock, Legend of the Lost Locket would likely have been a Hallmark Movies and Mysteries entry before its rebrand.

The Legend of The Lost Locket

The film is a mystery of sorts with a multigenerational romance at its center. Burnett plays English antiques expert Amelia Scott, who resumes her mother’s long ago, unfinished quest to find a long-lost antique locket that legend says will grant the wearer true love. Amelia’s search takes her to a small town in Massachusetts, where Sheriff Marcus Forrest (Leacock) questions her motives and interest in the town’s history.

Eventually swayed to recognize the significance such a find would have on his community, he decides to help Amelia in her search and deciphering of the clues they find along the way, and of course, warms to her, too. They’re also running down the clock to locate it before competing treasure hunters do, and in time for the period costume ball set to occur during the town’s annual Founder’s Day celebration.

Look for fellow Hallmarkies favorite Hrothgar Matthews and familiar Hallmark faces Kevin O’Grady, Beverley Elliot, Zak Santiago, and Samantha Cole. Kevin Fair directs a script by Michelle Ricci (who wrote several of Leacock’s Hailey Dean Mysteries, which are totally due for a return IYAM).

It’s fun to see Hallmark spin its paired series regulars into standalone films, with Burnett and Leacock teaming up the way the network has also spun Hope Valley’s Colters (Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith), and soon, the OG Thorntons (Erin Krakow and Daniel Lissing) into one-offs.
