[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

Almost a year after Concrete Evidence, the third Fixer Upper Mysteries movie premieres Sunday night on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Deadly Deed is full of familiar faces and Canadian TV goodies, as well as a solid mystery with a little undercurrent of romance.

Shannon (Jewel) and Mac (Colin Ferguson) stumble on another body that complicates a just-kicked-off renovation that’s intended to be donated apartment housing. The suspects are many–from one of the prospective tenants (John Cassini, who also executive produces) to a bank VP (iZombie‘s Kurt Evans) to a local bookseller (Ghost Wars and the upcoming Siren‘s Tammy Gillis).

Shannon has to slow her roll this time around, after promising her Dad (Ron Lea) that she won’t imperil herself again. She mostly keeps her word, turning over some of the investigation to the actual police (Jason Cermak and Colin Lawrence) as well as her BFF, Jennifer (Erin Karpluk).

Shannon and Mac’s no-dating policy gets a nudge when his niece (When Calls the Heart and Date My Dad‘s Lilah Fitzgerald) accidentally tips Shannon to Mac’s heartbreak. Shannon gets a talking to of her own when her Dad suggests that her own reticence to take a chance might need to change.

It’s a fairly large cast this time around, but it works to keep the central story moving and fill in the background for our regulars, who all return.  The cold open is somewhat of a lost leader but it sets the tone for heightened anxiety about who’s lurking around the corners. Teena Booth again adapts from Kate Carlisle‘s book series, and Mark Jean directs.

A Fixer Upper Mystery: Deadly Deed premieres Sunday at 9 pm/8c on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You can catch the first two installments beginning at 9 am/8c that morning. Here’s a sneak peek of the new film.

I am so upset! I watched the movie on Sunday morning, March 25, and I had a conflict on the taping of another show and the channel flipped, so I missed the last several minutes and don’t know what happened after Shannon went to look for the books and her “boyfriend” ran to his car. Now I can’t find the show on demand or anywhere on TV and I’m dying to know if it will be repeated or what the actual ending was. I’m so mad!
