[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

You know how there are some shows that drag out the super-secret reveals for such a long time that you give up on ever being looped in? Praise the trees, y’all, because Killjoys is SO not that show. Not only are we getting the origin reveal on Aneela and Dutch this Friday, we’re also getting three more episodes after that this summer to noodle on the OMG-ness of it all. And I promise you, it’s nothing you will have guessed. If you somehow did call it, please send me the numbers for the Power Ball on Saturday.

And precisely because this is such an important, pivotal episode, I’m going to err on the side of extreme caution and hit you with the basics. Johnny recruits a contingent of surviving RAC pilots to see what they can do with the Hullen ghost ships.

That coincides with the still-lingering rift between Turin and Fancy, which escalates and extends beyond just Fancy. We get a visit from one of the new allies we met earlier this season, and as Luke Macfarlane mentioned in our interview, D’av needs all the help he can get in staffing up for the war.

Dutch walls herself off, with an assist from Zeph, putting herself in extreme danger to test drive the brain cells that Zeph discovered, and doing so opens up a series of Pandora’s boxes (again with the boxes) as she learns the truth about Aneela, herself, and Khlyen. Thankfully, Zeph leaves some encrypted breadcrumbs behind in case they need help. In another lovely hat tip to the fans, we finally see the moment when Dutch met Johnny, and it’s exactly as awesome as you expected. Guyliner Jaqobis is real, you guys.

The episode marks the first for Killjoys from Niko Troubetzkoy, who has written for Orphan Black and Canadian series 19-2, which is boggling when you realize that a writer who is new to the show handily laid out a huge mytharc story. It’s directed by producer and recurring Killjoys (and Supergirl, The Flash, and Supernatural) director Stefan Pleszczynski.
