WARNING: Silicon Valley spoilers

Forget what you know about Silicon Valley because the fourth season is going to blow this universe up.

Okay maybe don’t forget what you know. You’ll still need to remember Richard’s compression algorithm, Big Head’s tendency to float upward, Jared’s uber loyalty to Richard and that Gilfoyle really loves it when Dinesh falls flat on his face. Oh and that Gavin Belson is one petty, petty man. Remember all of that. Because all of it remains true for season four.

But something major does go down.

When the action picks up tonight, Dinesh’s video chat app is on fire but the guys are having a ton of trouble finding funding. And it’s all because of those pesky fake inflatable numbers that mired the end of last season…the ones that threatened to end Pied Piper.

In the wake of Pied Piper’s clickfarm scandal, the guys struggle to find funding for Pied Piper’s video-chat app to keep up with their rapidly growing user base. Erlich (T.J. Miller) faces resistance from Big Head’s dad (Patrick O’Connor), while Gavin (Matt Ross) balks after Jack (Stephen Tobolowsky) steps on his toes at Hooli. Having a hard time adjusting to his company’s pivot, Richard (Thomas Middleditch) gets sage advice from an unexpected source, leading him to a big idea that could change his future.

  • Richard’s feeling conflicted. He’s having a tough time with the fact a video chat app may be his ticket to fortune. He’s always reaching for the stars when it comes to his algorithm.
  • It’s a clash of visions for Pied Piper. Whose vision will win out?
  • A major decision is made. Will it tear the team apart?
  • Why does Jared looks like a hurt puppy at one point?

  • Gavin Belson and Jack Barker  experience first world problems with their first world rivalry. But there will have to be a winner and a loser. Because Belson needs it that way.

  • Erlich faces more than resistance with Big Head’s dad. The man wants to make his life hell and will do whatever it takes to ensure this happens

  • Gilfoyle agrees with Dinesh on a certain matter. HE AGREES WITH DINESH. Hmm…how long do we see that lasting?
  • Richard turns to a face from the recent past for help.

  • Monica isn’t in a good place at the start of the season.

While I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about the major development/life decision that goes down in this premiere, I’m all on board.

Welcome back, Silicon Valley! The season four premiere of Silicon Valley airs tonight at 10/9c on HBO.
