WARNING: Spoilers for the Grimm season premiere

It’s a bittersweet time for fans of NBC’s Grimm.

On one hand, the show returns tomorrow night after what was a very painful hiatus. The epic fifth season finale was the show’s best ever, as far as we’re concerned.

On the other hand, Season 6 marks the end of the road for this show that premiered in 2011. A final season is a grim kind of thing to deal with, pun intended.

But let’s concentrate on the Season 6 premiere — the action picks up right where the finale left off, with Renard killing Bonaparte (thanks to Diana’s…manipulation). The detective and the new mayor are confused as to how Nick’s alive at all and just how Renard happened to turn on the Black Claw leader.

Expect intensity to the supreme as any pretense of being on the same side fades. We are in a Nick versus Renard world here. If you need a hint on what this episode is going to encompass, just take a look at the title: “Fugitive.” Poor Nick. The hunt is on.

Elsewhere, Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) suffers the side effects of the mysterious stick’s healing power. Claire Coffee also stars.

The final 13 episodes of Grimm kicks off strong with an intense manhunt. There’s no more shades of gray when it comes to Nick and Renard’s relationship. They are pitted against each other. Renard wastes no time going after Nick using all the resources at his disposal.

Nick’s resources are much more limited but he takes advantage of what he can. He knows he can count on his ride-or-die crew of Hank, Wu, Monroe, Rosalee, Truble and Eve/Juliette, of course. He also has Adalind and Kelly to think on his side. Diana? She’s a dangerous, powerful wild card.

Meanwhile, Eve/Juliette starts to focus on the stick that healed her and the mystery surrounding it. She knows she’s changed but she doesn’t know how.

Finally, we have to remember that Rosalee’s pregnant so that puts her and Monroe in a delicate situation. As the synopsis states, the husband and wife are going to start thinking about their future, which means they, ultimately, may have to make a difficult choice.

Here’s a sneak peek featuring Nick and Renard:

The sixth season premiere of Grimm premieres Friday night on NBC at an earlier hour of 8/7c.
