CMT Releases New Nashville Trailer

CMT Releases New Nashville Trailer

nashville-s5

When the primetime soap Nashville finished its run on ABC last May I had a bit of a surprising reaction. I wasn’t ready to let go just yet.

Thankfully, the series quickly earned itself a resurrection. Produced by Lionsgate, ABC Studios and Opry Entertainment, Nashville is set to air on CMT starting on Jan. 5. However, fans will be able to see the first hour of the two-hour premiere early.

A special sneak preview will drop on Thursday, Dec. 15. This early gift will hopefully provide the answer to a question burning since the crushing ending to the Season 4 finale: What happened to Juliette’s plane?

Since Hayden Panettiere will be around for Season 5, we can only guess nothing fatal or tragic will occur, but one never knows, especially since a press release on the new season offered this little ditty:

The season begins with Rayna and Deacon facing a new normal with Maddie now back home and Highway 65 struggling financially. The shocking news about Juliette creates a wave of emotions throughout Nashville and sets Rayna off on a journey of discovery.

What in the world does that mean? I’m grateful I only have to wait two weeks until a new episode airs, but I’m still worried. Juliette and Avery are my favorite Nashville duo (well, it’s a tie with Rayna and Deacon), and Avery finally seemed to find a way to forgive his ex-wife. A reunion seemed like it was a go. I’m not going to give up on these two. I know they will find their way back to each other.

I’m also looking forward to the continuation of Will’s story. It felt like the conflicted singer got his act together by the end of last season. He’s more at peace with who he is and his choices. Meanwhile, I’m not going to lie, I’m super excited to know that Looking‘s Murray Bartlett‘s joining the show. Here’s to Bartlett and Chris Carmack making beautiful music together, if you know what I mean.

If you watch the new trailer CMT released today, there’s a quick shot of Will and Bartlett’s Jakob Fine so it seems like their stories will…connect. And I am so here for that.

While it looks like Maddie has plenty of story when new episodes return, I’m really hoping to see more of her little sister, Daphne. That little girl went through so much emotional turmoil in Season 4, with her dad being in prison, her sister leaving home in favor of emancipation, and dealing with the fact that she and Maddie have different bio dads. I would like to see a small storyline that revolves around her – something good preferably.

Those are some quick thoughts on the portion of this first trailer that features new footage. What are your thoughts?

Music and drama once again take centerstage when Nashville airs a sneak peek on CMT Thursday, Dec. 15 @ 9/8c. Season 5 officially debuts on Thursday, Jan. 5 @ 9/8c. And if you’re looking to catch up before new episodes begin or simply need to refresh your memory, head over to Hulu to watch seasons one through four. Nashville (including the sneak-peek) will also stream next day on Hulu.

Here’s the brand new trailer featuring some greatest hits and possibly some new classics:
