[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

Monday night, 12 Monkeys does a Groundhog Day-type hour that begins in typical fashion and unexpectedly turns into something exquisite.

The episode revisits the day that Jones lost her daughter Hannah, as Cassie tries to fulfill a mission at Jones’s request and Cole splinters in right behind Cassie to stop it.

This drops them both into a wicked time loop as the day repeatedly resets, bringing with it a series of encounters with Jennifer that she hilariously also remembers, and a visit with Colonel Foster (Xander Berkeley), who we saw Jones kill last season.

The close proximity and shared repetition help Cole and Cassie hash out some of their animosity and clear the air, and we get a better sense of exactly what Jones dealt with on the day that her daughter died.
