[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

It’s ladies night this week’s on 12 Monkeys as Cassie is sent back to 2016 to find Jennifer and keep her safe while the boys have to play nice back home in 2044. This begets some gem moments on both ends of the time spectrum, so everybody wins!

We find out that 2016 Jennifer was doing her level best to retain some sanity and normalcy, so it’s actually the team’s tinkering that sends her off the rails again, which is a sad realization, but a necessary component to saving the planet. “Chicken, egg, omelet…” as Ramse says at one point in the episode.

Things get complicated in a hurry when they run up against The Pallid Man, Olivia, and The Witness, and Cassie’s slammed back into a situation similar to one she went through in season one. Thankfully, Jennifer is stable enough to help.

In 2044, Deacon’s lingering West 7 behaviors because of an old enemy prompt Cole and Ramse to try something that has interesting consequences.

This is the episode from which the next few pivot, and it very importantly helps Cassie gain some perspective on Jennifer. It’s fast-moving, with a lot of pieces, and despite some scary, dark moments, is also sneakily funny throughout. Look for a very good rewind/repeat moment as Cole and Decaon try to out last word each other when Cassie splinters.
