It’s the third week of competition and I am confident tears will flow. That’s what happens whenever the theme is My Most Memorable Year. Someone almost always cries. Usually Carrie Ann Inaba. This week tends to show the vulnerability of the stars. How will they cope? Will we have new front-runners? Will Mischa get a new attitude? Will Len still be cranky? (Yes he will) Here’s how the couples did:
Ginger Zee and Val Chmerkovskiy
Dance: Contemporary
Phone Number: 800-868-3404
Ginger’s year was 2013. It was when she met her husband and everything changed for her. I agree with Len there needed to more fluidity in Ginger’s movements but it was a nice job to start out the night. We also got to see her newborn baby who was not having it!
Score: Carrie Ann-7, Len-7, Bruno-7; Total: 21
Doug Flutie and Karina Smirnoff
Dance: Waltz
Phone Number: 800-868-3402

2015 is the year that Doug lost both parents on the same day. He wanted to honor them and their almost 60-year marriage. I thought this was his best dance. Doug is improving every week and he is very emotionally in tune with the music and the dance. He’s the underdog of the season and he could surprise all of us and stay to the end.
Score: Carrie Ann-7, Len-6, Bruno-7; Total: 20
Kim Fields and Sasha Farber
Dance: Foxtrot
Phone Number: 1-800-868-3406
1976 is when Kim booked her first gig, which was the Mrs. Butterworth commercial. If you are over 35 this is an iconic commercial. She did a dance to the Facts of Life theme song with Mrs. Garrett in the audience. This dance made me smile and Kim and Sasha are dancing as one. It was a Foxtrot to remember.
Score: Carrie Ann-8, Len-7, Bruno-7; Total: 22
Von Miller and Witney Carson
Dance: Contemporary
Phone Number: 800-868-3411
2016 of course! The man just won the Super Bowl and the MVP award. This was his best dance so far and he really is graceful. I agree with Carrie Ann. I think he has more to give then he is revealing. It still was lovely.
Score: Carrie Ann-7, Len-6, Bruno-7; Total: 20
Marla Maples and Tony Dovolani
Dance: Jive
Phone Number: 800-868-3407
1993 was the year that Marla gave birth to her daughter Tiffany. This to me wasn’t Marla’s strongest dance. She seemed to struggle a little bit and was a bit robotic. I think she needs to loosen up a little.
Score: Carrie Ann-7, Len-7, Bruno-7; Total: 21
Antonio Brown and Sharna Burgess
Dance: Foxtrot
Phone Number: 800-868-3401
2007 he was a freshman in college and his son was born. Being a Dad is the most important job to Antonio. His son is feature in the beginning and at the end of the dance. I think that Antonio stepped up from last week. Antonio was fully connected and it was really special.
Score: Carrie Ann-7, Len-6, Bruno-7; Total: 20
Paige VanZant and Mark Ballas
Dance: Paso Doble
Phone Number: 800-868-3410
2014 was her first UFC fight. Paige was bullied in high school and because of it she found fighting. I wonder what those kids that were giving her a hard time think of Paige now! This was the perfect dance for her. Mark created some great choreography. I actually agree with Len in the sense that there weren’t enough Paso doble moves. But it’s really creative and tells a story.
Score: Carrie Ann-8, Len-7, Bruno-8; Total: 23
Jodie Sweetin and Keo Motsepe
Dance: Foxtrot
Phone Number: 800-868-3405
2015 was Jodie’s most memorable year. Her dreams are back on track getting Fuller House. After the original Full House went off the air, she struggled for a long time and now she feels like she is good to go. I agree that this is Jodie’s best dance and it’s the one that shows me that she is on track and finding the skill that I knew she had. Stephanie Tanner did get down back in the day!
Score: Carrie Ann-8, Len-7, Bruno-8; Total: 23
Mischa Barton and Artem Chigvintsev
Dance: Samba
Phone Number: 800-868-3408
2008 is Mischa’s most memorable year. It was the height of The O.C. and then she took a step back because fame was getting to her. She said that this helped her find herself again. She actually tried a little bit harder this week. She’s not a great dancer but she just had fun. The main issue is her attitude and it changed for the better. But will it be enough to keep her around?
Score: Carrie Ann-6, Len-6, Bruno-6; Total: 18
Wanya Morris and Lindsay Arnold
Dance: Waltz
Phone Number: 800-868-3412

1996 is the year Wanya’s selected. Boyz II Men sang at the Olympics after the Terrorist attack at Olympic Village. The group re-recorded the National Anthem that they sang on that day. Wanya and Lindsay’s waltz is gorgeous. He only has a bit of a posture issue but not enough that it makes a difference. Wanya has been fantastic since the first show but he just keeps upping his game.
Score: Carrie Ann-8, Len-8, Bruno-8; Total: 24
Nyle DiMarco and Peta Murgatroyd
Dance: Tango
Phone Number: 800-868-3409
2012 is the year Nyle traveled the world by himself without an interpreter. He was born into a deaf family. Nyle wanted to see what life was like in the “real†world. He is a fearless guy. I mean I can’t even tell you how amazed I am with him every week. Peta is probably one of the best teachers because this is unbelievable.
Score: Carrie Ann-8, Len-8, Bruno-9; Total: 25
Nyle and Peta get the best score of the night and are the first couple told they are safe. Then the couples in jeopardy are announced. The first couple in jeopardy are Doug and Karina and then Mischa and Artem join them. Also in jeopardy are Jodie and Keo. The remaining couples are then told that they’re all safe.

Going Home: Mischa and Artem. I think this is the right thing because Mischa doesn’t seem like she wants to be there.

Next week is Disney Night. Cross promotion, anyone? Side Note: Does anyone realize how low the scoring is this year? I guess they are trying to be tougher. Don’t forget to vote!

3 Moments of Goodness from Brooklyn Nine-Nine “Johnny and Dora”
