WARNING: Vikings Season 4 Spoilers

The Vikings saga continues tonight on HISTORY.

Season 4 is shaping up to be more epic than ever before, if that’s even possible.

  • For the first time ever, it’ll be super-sized. Season 4 will consist of 20 episodes, ten coming now. And ten more coming later in the season.
  • It feels like we may end up losing at least one major character this season. Could it be Ragnar? His wife, Queen Aslaug, is super ambitious. It’s clear she’s working her way up to making a power play. Plus, Ragnar and Rollo are headed for what could be a brotherly thunder dome-type situation.

  • Remember that at the beginning of last season, The Seer gave Lagertha a dire prediction. And in this video, she says it all comes down to “Victory or Valhalla.” That’s pretty ominous. Will Lagertha make it through Season 4 alive?

  • Much of the action — at least at the beginning of the season — takes place in Kattegat, Hedeby, Wessex, Paris and the winter wilderness where a character goes to prove himself.
  • Rollo’s duke-dom in Paris isn’t going to be easy. Look for him to struggle. And then make some moves to end the struggling.

In tonight’s season premiere, Ragnar’s licking his wounds after the raid on Paris.

Meanwhile, in Hedeby, Kalf announces joint Earldom with Lagertha, but is power-sharing Kalf’s true intention and is Lagertha actually willing to share what once was hers?

More Teases

  • Queen Aslaug gets a face-to-face with The Seer. You can imagine what kind of prediction she wants out of him.

  • As usual, Ragnar is very tough on Bjorn. So Bjorn makes a big decision. Should he be successful, this could go a long way into proving himself to his father.
  • While there’s a bit of blood shed in the episode, the award for being the most brutal — goes to Lagertha. That’s all we’re saying.
  • A new character is introduced — Dianne Doan plays Yidu, a slave woman who Aslaug buys. She’ll pique Ragnar’s interest for sure.
