Fresh off the final season of Rookie Blue, Ben Bass makes his Hallmark Channel debut opposite Holly Marie Combs (in her debut as well) Saturday night in Love’s Complicated.
Directed by Jerry Ciccoritti (Schitt’s Creek) and written by two more Hallmark newbies, Jill Girling and Lori Mather-Welch, the film follows Leah (Combs), who doesn’t think she has a problem with conflict because she does everything possible to avoid it. When her boyfriend buys her a session in a conflict resolution class, she has to spend time with a radio host (Bass) who dissed her first book, and she eventually discovers the importance of sticking up for herself and finding the life and people that make her happy. Corbin Bernsen and Bass’s Forever Knight co-star Catherine Disher (The Good Witch) also star.
I wasn’t able to pre-screen the film, but I’m intrigued by this pairing, and Bass in a romantic comedy, something I don’t recall him doing before. I’m also surprised it took until now for Combs to headline a film for Hallmark.
Love’s Complicated premieres Saturday at 9/8c on Hallmark Channel. Here’s a sneak peek.
