[Warning: General spoilers ahead]

If The Strain is a show for which you have a great deal of (or even just middling) affection, I strongly recommend you watch it live Sunday night, if at all possible. If you’re on the West Coast, or plan to DVR it, stay the hell off social media beforehand–and if you are DVRing, set it to run over a few minutes.

All that out of the way, I’m going to refrain from saying too much because spoilers are terrible, awful, bad on a good day, and I disavow them. I’ll just tell you the basics: Eph, Nora, and Zack pack up for the trip south to take Zack to his grandparents with the plan to come back by DC to manufacture the bioweapon. Fet and Setrakian go after the Lumen, and have a less easy time after their transaction is concluded. Quinlan indoctrinates Gus’s new recruits. Palmer, with Coco’s prodding, decides to test the limits of his agreement with the Master. Everyone except Dutch and Justine are involved.

I’ll also tell you that the visuals in the episode are some of the most stunning that we’ve seen so far. The final shots are breathtaking. We do not get a formal cliffhanger, thankfully, but this finale is not as buttoned up as the first one was, either. It does, however, set up an intriguing third season (again, really glad we already know that).

While there’s no marathon Sunday, you can catch the entire season online at FX. “Night Train” airs at 10/9c Sunday on FX. Here’s a sneak peek.
