After seasons named for Time, Second, and Minute, we move to a theme of Hours, and we begin right where we left off, as Brad (Ryan Robbins) and Kiera detonated the device and realized that maybe wasn’t the best idea ever. The gang is all here (including my Ian Tracey!!) along with Supernatural fave Ty Olsson and familiar Canadian faces including the fantastic Michael Eklund (who worked with Tracey on Intelligence back in the day and Aleks Paunovic.

We establish pretty quickly who the new arrivals are, but not so quickly why they’re there, but Kiera’s encounter with them sends her into a CMR sim that upends her previous decision to make a life in the present. She and Alec are back together in a way that will delight the original fans, and refreshingly, she is also more forthcoming with Carlos than we saw last season. Alec decides to take advantage of the other Alec’s lifestyle choices, and he goes after Kellog for his Piron coup in a way that backfires.

I’m excited to see where the six episodes take us. It’s not a lot of time, but if any show can get it done, it’s this one, and they had the luxury of knowing how much time they had to work with.

Starting tomorrow, Continuum will air Fridays at 11 pm/10c on Syfy. Here’s a sneak peek of the premiere, plus a handy season 3 recap from our Canadian neighbors at Showcase–don’t panic about the dates below–Canada premiered last week.
