Crown Media announced this morning that our much-loved Jesse Stone film franchise with Tom Selleck will return in October with a twofold premiere–first on Hallmark Channel, and a week later on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, which has rerun rights on all of the films. While the premiere was previously announced for HM&M, it makes sense to premiere it first on the network with the larger cable distribution.

Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming and Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks, had this to say about the premiere, which is the ninth film in the series, and the first new entry in three years–just in time for the 10th anniversary of the first film.

“Tom Selleck is a TV legend and Jesse Stone is a cornerstone franchise on our very successful Hallmark Movies & Mysteries,” she says. “While unprecedented to debut a program across our networks, we want Tom’s millions of fans to see one of TV’s greatest actors reprise one of his best roles ever.”

Here’s what to expect from the new film: With things running smoothly in Paradise, Police Chief Stone (Selleck) agrees to serve as a consultant on an unsolved murder case in Boston. Local police suspect “The Boston Ripper,” a killer who is already behind bars, but Stone believes the murderer is a bit closer to home–setting him off on an investigation filled with surprises and grave danger.

Returning with Selleck are William Devane and Gloria Reuben, along with franchise newcomers Leslie Hope and Luke Perry. Robert Harmon directs from a script by Michael Brandman and Selleck based on characters created by Robert B. Parker.

Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise premieres on Hallmark Channel Sunday, October 18th at 9 pm/8c and a week later on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Sunday, October 25th at 9pm/8c.
