Power “Ghost Is Dead”

“Ghost Is Dead’ was tense and intense. With all the double-crossing and double-dealing, I wasn’t sure who, if anyone, was going to make it out alive. I’m bummed that one “death” didn’t stick, though. I think Kanan deserved to die for a lot of reasons, but mostly because he killed his own son. I think it’s a great plot twist that he’s still alive, but I have to say that I wish this character was played by a better actor. I would get so much more out of this role if that was the case.

It was really just a matter of time before Tommy and Jamie fell out. Jamie has been trying for a long time to get Tommy to hear him about going legit. But the drug business is all Tommy knows. It’s all he’s ever been good at. So when they draw on each other, I got nervous. They’re brothers and brothers fight. But there have been too many secrets between them, especially on Jamie’s side. They part amicably — and, by that, I mean they don’t kill each other — but Lobos has other plans. He survived Ghost’s attempt to take him out and now he’s going to finish the job he wanted to start in that hotel room before he got arrested. And he’s going to use Tommy to do it. I’ve got to admit, it’s a great plan.

At the end of the day, I didn’t think Angela and Jamie would survive this. But Angela has shown us time and again that she’s not afraid to bend or break the law to get results. So, of course, that spills over into her personal life. Will she be able to “forget” Jamie’s betrayals and lies? She loves him enough to burn her colleague, which I did not see coming. Greg has every right to be upset and I actually really want to see him try to bring Angela down. Does she deserve it? Sure. She’s done a lot of things wrong. I hope Greg targets Ghost as well because, quite frankly, that’ll make things really interesting.

And knowing that Mike Sandoval has been bought and paid for by Lobos? I never saw that coming either. It’s another way Lobos can try to get at Ghost, if Tommy doesn’t do his job.

Tasha’s going to be a problem, though. She thinks Jamie killed Shawn, so we know she’s going to try to do something to right that wrong. It’s just another hurdle for Jamie to overcome, but I think with everything that’ll be coming at him next season, it’s going to be very hard for Jamie to keep his promise. After all, it’s Ghost who’s the killer, not Jamie. Jamie is a legitimate business man. He runs Truth and two other clubs perviously owned by Stern. I’d love to see more of Victor Garber, so I do hope Stern tries to exact some kind of revenge on his former protegé.

The question remains, once you’re in this life can you ever get out? I think Jamie will try to keep Ghost dead and buried, but with so many people coming at him, I don’t think that’s possible. But at least he’s got Angela. For now.

Season 3 of Power returns in 2016.
