[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

Seven episodes into the first season, this is the Killjoys episode that gives shippers what they think they want for a teeny tiny moment before everything is turned on its ear in a massive, emotionally decimating way. We’ll get into that tonight after the episode airs. First things first, the promos from last week were not a fakeout, but they don’t tell the whole story.

It’s a fantastic showcase episode for our three main cast–so glad Killjoys is giving them this kind of material to work with. It’s not too dissimilar from the way Lost Girl would be all light and fun and then suddenly knock you on your ass. The gist of tonight’s episode is that John continues to work on Khlyen’s tracker and the team follows a lead on Jaeger that leads them into a moment of levity in an underground club where anything goes, followed by an arrest, a handshake deal, and a frightening demonstration of D’avin’s implant.

Look for Amanda Tapping to guest star, along with the return of Mayko Nguyen, and a drop by from Mark O’Brien, who’s most recently had an arc on Halt and Catch Fire, but to me, he’ll always be Des from Republic of Doyle first.
