Mike Ross teamed up with Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) during last week’s Suits. Seeing the way they interacted with each other was pretty fascinating. Mike’s used to being treated like a partner, like someone who’s respected. And Zane just wasn’t doing that at first. He chose to treat Mike like an associate. Normally that would be satisfactory considering Zane’s years and years and years of experience. And, you know, Mike not truly being a lawyer. But Mike was the one to bring the case to Zane. In the end, he simply had to use a lot of heart and his famous photographic memory to prove himself to his future father-in-law.
As for Harvey, it’s just conflict after conflict after conflict. How does he not have an ulcer to go with his panic attacks? Speaking of those pesky things, they came roaring back. After multiple confrontations with Jack (John Pyper-Ferguson), the partner that has it out for him, Harvey hit back big time. He used Hall of Fame basketball player (and current NBA analyst) Charles Barkley to steal one of Jack’s clients. Of course, that was after Harvey tried to make nice with him on Jessica’s orders and Jack basically spit in his face. Harvey also had a confrontation with Donna, who understandably doesn’t want to be used like some sort of prize or chess piece in this whole Harvey vs. Louis rivalry. This time, Mike witnessed one of these panic attacks. Harvey doesn’t like to look vulnerable in front of anyone but this he couldn’t avoid. At the very least, it got Mike to take his attention away from his Kelton Insurance case for one minute in order to help Harvey out with his schemes and machinations.
Jessica hit it on the head when she told Harvey he needs to figure out a way to take care of his abandonment issues. Not only is there the Donna factor, she pointed out that Harvey’s scared Mike will jump to Team Robert Zane after working so closely with him. That Jessica is a smart woman. There’s a reason why her name comes first. And did you hear Harvey refer to the law firm as Pearson Specter not Pearson Specter Litt? He has denial issues, too.
Donna practiced tough love with Louis, who was also fearful of being abandoned. Man, Harvey and Louis may have more in common than we thought, hmmm? She still managed to be tougher on her former boss, though. She told him that even if she left Louis, what would make him think she’d ever come back to him. Donna may need to work through some of her own things. She has a right to be pissed about being used like a pawn but she needs to figure out why she’s so hurt about Harvey not feeling the way she does.
And Harvey needs to stop reacting in the overbearing way he does all the time. It never does him any good. And it usually results in more pain and him in an even deeper hole he needs to dig himself out of. It also creates more enemies. This has to be an exhausting pattern for him. Thankfully, he realized he needs to go back to the doctor. Unfortunately, he wanted more pills and then to be done with it. Of course, the good doctor wanted him to talk things through. So we got to see a bit of role playing where we saw things from Harvey’s perspective. It’s like Donna was in the room and he was able to let some stuff out. Don’t think it was enough. Harvey’s a mess and he’s going to need a lot of talking to make it better.
Good thing he has Gretchen (Aloma Wright), that awesome new secretary of his. Is it bad we’re hoping she never goes away? She’s fierce all the time and fallible some of the time. But she is supportive of Harvey and will go to war for him. Plus, she can relate to him considering she revealed she used to have panic attacks, will pull a prank on Louis in the name of her boss and obtain secret information and details for him. Hopefully, this show will figure out a way to get her to stay.
Finally, Jessica said she sees herself in Rachel which means Rachel has a mentor. Let’s hope the show continues to explore what that means. The two of them spending time together is a good move. And Shallow TV Alert: Gina Torres and Meghan Markle looked gorgeous in their fancy shmancy dresses.
Now let’s move on to tonight’s episode. We’re so excited about this one because we get to meet Louis’ sister, played by Person of Interest star and Whedonverse alum, Amy Acker.

Synopsis for “No Puedo Hacerlo”:Â Harvey steps outside his usual area of expertise, in order to take a case from a client who has a special tie to the firm. Mike and Zane work their class-action case together, but Mike learns they have different ideas about what constitutes a win – for themselves, and for their clients. And Donna counsels Louis on the best way to settle a feud.

Guest Star Goodness: Amy Acker‘s one of our favorite actresses. She’s been a part of so many shows we love, namely Angel, POI, Dollhouse, Agents of SHIELD and Supernatural. She’s not only guest starring on Suits. She’s also playing Louis’ sister. We’re wondering how many sparks are going to fly between Esther and Harvey. We’re also hoping Harvey doesn’t use this opportunity to stick it to Louis. After all, a war’s going on in Pearson Specter Litt.
And we’ve probably said this before, it make us nervous to have Mike work so closely to Rachel’s dad. The man is super intelligent and street smart as well. He could possibly do some leg work and figure out Mike’s secret. That’s just a big fear we have so hopefully the storyline isn’t headed down that road.
Have we congratulated Suits on the show’s renewal yet? No? Well, congrats go out to the cast and crew. It’s awesome that this series will get another year to shine. So far Season 5 is painful to watch but highly entertaining. So glad it will live to see another season.
Suits airs Wednesday nights at 9/8c on USA Network.
