Warning: Spoilers Ahead

We love that we’ve been (perhaps impatiently) waiting to see what happened at the end of Hannibal’s Red Dinner. Coming into the season, we knew at least Will had made it out alive. But what about the others? As the first few episodes of the season progressed, we discovered that Abigail died, but that Will, Jack and Alana were still alive — all scarred, all changed, but alive.

Since Raul Esparza made an appearance at last year’s Comic-Con, we knew he’d be back this season and we weren’t disappointed with his return. We love that he makes strategic visits to Will, Mason, Alana and Jack in his search for Hannibal. He’s invested in seeing Hannibal caught, but not killed. Mason wants the same and has put up a million dollar reward for anyone who can provide relevant information. As Mason prepares the theater for Hannibal’s death, Alana does her part to get Hannibal to the stage. I like this Alana. A lot.

Also, I have to say that seeing Verger and Chilton reveal their “true” faces — mostly literally, but also a little bit metaphorically – was illuminating. Although they try, neither one can really hide the damage done to them by Hannibal the Cannibal.

So what’s next? Who will find Hannibal first and how will this chapter end?

“Contorno” synopsis, from NBC:

Jack Crawford and Inspector Pazzi search for clues that will lead them closer to Hannibal Lecter’s location in Florence, but the promise of riches offered by Mason Verger threatens to corrupt Pazzi’s quest for redemption. Meanwhile, Will Graham and Chiyoh travel to Florence, both on a mission to find Hannibal, but at odds over the desired outcome. Elsewhere, as Alana Bloom continues to work with Mason Verger she grows concerned for the safety of all involved.

This game of cat and mouse has lead Jack to Italy, but has he had to time properly mourn the death of his wife? What does it mean to say goodbye to hear and is he, in essence, but his affairs in order?

Hannibal airs Thursdays at 10/9c on NBC.
