[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]
After a successful two-hour premiere last week, The Good Witch settles into its weekly home with another new episode. One programming note — I thought we were in for a 13-episode season, but according to the ratings release earlier this week, we’ll have eight more episodes, for a total of ten hours this first season.
Here’s the logline for “Running Scared” — Middleton is full of excitement about the upcoming Heritage Festival, while Cassie worries about the Grey House’s newest visitor, a scared young woman who seems to be running away from something, or someone. Brandon wants to investigate her past, but Cassie meets an older gentleman who has returned to Middleton with his own painful secret about her guest. Meanwhile, Grace gets caught up in another one of Nick’s lies when she tries to help her friend through a tough time.
It’s another sweet outing as Cassie’s intuition influences Brandon in his new role, Derek in the matters of the heart, and Grace in giving Nick the benefit of the doubt. We also see a friendly rivalry between Ryan and Sam (one side note that made me chuckle — Sam tells Cassie he doesn’t do yoga, and then when we visit him at his office, there’s a rack in the corner with yoga mats and balance balls). The episode doesn’t completely wrap the main arc; it will continue next week.
