WARNING: Spoilers for tonight’s GG2D

Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce is all new on Bravo tonight. It’s probably our favorite episode so far. Here’s what you need to know:

Synopsis for “Rule #21: Leave Childishness to Children”: After the disastrous date with Nate, Abby (Lisa Edelstein) goes on a date with her hot, young pursuer, Will (Warren Christie). Meanwhile, Lyla’s mother, Annie (Bernadette Peters), comes to Los Angeles to help her make the best impression possible with the visiting caseworker.

Abby, Lyla and Phoebe are all experiencing situations that result in some deliciously awkward moments. In a recent press call, Lisa Edelstein said that GG2D is “a little bit more of a raw exploration of what it means to find yourself in the world again.” That’s exactly what the ladies are going through. The wonderful part of this journey is we get to see how they each react to what’s happening to them.

Four teases for tonight’s episode:

  • Abby runs into Will, the guy she hooked up with in the pilot. She can’t seem to forget that he’s a lot younger than her. Let’s just say there’s a lot of drama that happens during the date. We’ll let you find out the what, when, where, why and how of it all. But we will tell you Abby does manage to experience a first. It may qualify as a bit of a badass moment for her. You judge for yourself. A sneak peek:

  • Lyla gets a visit from her mom. It’s not that much of a shock to say that she has some issues with her mother. If you’re playing the home game, Lyla has issues with everyone. This has been well established. A sneak peek:

  • As you know, wild child Phoebe has hooked up with a couple. “Leave Childishness to Children” explores her brave new world even more. This is Phoebe. Things tend to get complicated when she’s around. A sneak peek:

  • Get ready to learn a relationship term that’s as hilariously pretentious as Gwyneth Paltrow’s “conscious uncoupling.” By the way, we are loving the dialogue on this show.

Warren Christie

Warren Christie returns as Will, the younger guy that fancies Abby. We were hoping to see Christie back on GG2D. The chemistry between him and Edelstein is so crackling good. The age difference doesn’t matter to us. We like Will and Abby together.

Christie is probably best known to TV audiences for his two seasons on Syfy’s Alphas. His other small screen credits include USA Network’s Rush as well as ABC’s Motive and Castle. He also did an episode of the CW’s Arrow.

Bernadette Peters

The scenes between Janeane Garofalo and the great Bernadette Peters are not to be missed. There’s one in particular where Lyla finds out more about her mom than ever before. It’s so well done. Garofalo’s hot aggressive mess of a character is probably at her most likable in this episode. The show is finally able to add more depth to Lyla because we get to find out more about her backstory.

What can you say about Bernadette Peters? She’s a legend in the Broadway musical theater universe. She’s a Tony and Grammy winner. She’s been in a ton of movies including Annie, Pink Cadillac and my personal favorite, The Jerk (starring Steve Martin). On TV, she’s been in everything from The Carol Burnett Show to Saturday Night Live to Ally McBeal to Grey’s Anatomy. Some of her other TV credits include Will and Grace, Ugly Betty and Law & Order: SVU. She also co-starred in the small screen version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella that featured Brandy and Whitney Houston.

The male half of Phoebe’s polyamarous couple is Paul Greene. He starred in season one of the Syfy series, Bitten. He played Elena’s boyfriend, Philip McAdams. Greene also guest starred in a memorable season six episode of CBS’ NCIS. He was Renny Grant, an innocent man Tony DiNozzo sent to prison when he was team lead during Gibbs’ Mexican hiatus. Grant tried to get his revenge on Tony and also clue in the very special agent enough to help him prove his innocence.

Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce airs Tuesday nights at 10/9c on Bravo.

I do so love Warren getting to play a (maybe?) good guy! Thanks for the heads up that he’s back tonight. ABC really needs to pick up S3 of Motive, which is already in production for CTV.

He was a regular in S2, and as far as I know, will be again in S3. Love having him on TV in so many places.

PS — You did spy Victor Webster in that preview for next week, right? 😉
