Before we show you the preview, let’s take a moment and say so long to our beloved, Charlie Skinner.
If you didn’t see last week’s episode, “Oh Shenandoah,†Charlie died. He fell over and hit his head on the side of a desk in the ACN Newsroom. He suffered what would be a fatal heart attack.

Here’s a look back at some of Charlie’s finer moments from the past three seasons.
Now it’s time to say adieu to The Newsroom.

HBO Synopsis for “What Kind of Day Has it Beenâ€: In the series finale, a shocking death prompts Will and Mac to reminisce about the newsroom’s past and ponder ACN’s uncertain future. Meanwhile, Maggie gets an interview for a field producer position in Washington, D.C.; Leona offers sage advice to Pruit; and Neal’s digital site is shut down for repairs.
What can we expect? This isn’t the first time that creator Aaron Sorkin has used the title, “What Kind of Day Has It Been†to end one of his television series. He used it in the series finale for Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. In addition, he used it at the end of the first seasons of his popular political drama, The West Wing as well as his cancelled-too-soon series, Sports Night.
If you remember any of those episodes or go back and watch them, perhaps you might get a sense as to where Sorkin is leading us tonight.

What we do know is that Will is out of prison. He left reluctantly.
While in solitary confinement, Will wrestled with past memories. His cellmate turned out to be his deceased father. The entire time, Will was suffering from delusions.

High above the sky, Maggie and Jim professed their feelings for each other.

MacKenzie, Don and Sloan tried to stop what they considered to be citizen journalism, by having Sloan grill Bree, Neal’s replacement on live TV.
Questions based on the HBO synopsis
- Will Maggie accept a position in Washington D.C. and leave Jim behind?
- What advice will Leona offer to Pruit, especially in light of Charlie’s death?
- What will become of ACN?
- Will Neal return?
