WARNING: Spoilers Ahead

Season 3 of HBO’s The Newsroom has hit the ground running.

Here’s a sneak peek of the episode:

Already the news team is facing its share of problems. Unsure of how to handle the Boston Marathon Bombings, Charlie, Will and Mackenzie sat on the breaking news story for too long, landing News Night in fourth place.

To add insult to injury, Neal unknowingly landed himself in a world of trouble, when an anonymous source teased him with the prospect of some mysterious documents. However, in order to download them he required an Air Gap computer to access the information. Will, gave him his personal credit card in order to purchase it. After that, it didn’t take long for Neal to figure out that he was in possession of highly classified government documents; however, what ACN’s whiz-kid didn’t understand is that by asking for additional information, he had now conspired to commit espionage.

This leads to tonight’s return of ACN’s lawyer Rebecca Halliday (Marcia Gay Harden) whom fans will remember from the Geona storyline in season two.

And if that isn’t enough, Sloan manages to figure out that ACN has become the target of a hostile takeover.

Jane Fonda also returns tonight as the fiery Leona Lansing. She’ll have her hands full. Leona will take on Reese’s two half siblings, Randy (Chris Smith) and Blair (Kat Dennings), when the troublesome twosome tries to force a buyout of the company.

As for what is ahead for the other characters, it seems like Maggie has matured. She stepped in for Elliot at the last minute when he had an allergic reaction, prior to his live shot.

Where does that leave Hallie? From the looks of it, Jim only had eyes for Maggie during her broadcast debut.

Who is wearing the pants in the Sloan/Don relationship? I’m going with Sloan!

Of course, we cannot forget about the wedding of Will and MacKenzie. Here’s hoping they can scale it down a bit.

Finally, if you’re die-hard fan, like me, you might want to check this out. The Newsroom Creator/Executive producer, Aaron Sorkin goes inside episode one and also reveals what else he has in mind for the characters.

The final season of The Newsroom airs Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.
