[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

If I may be so bold, I’m going to strongly suggest you do not eat during this Saturday’s Hell on Wheels, because it sort of outdoes itself on the gore. But if you’ve got an iron gut, go for it. We begin at the very moment we left off last month, with Ruth having fired two shots into Sydney Snow.

From there, the race is on to keep him alive to keep Ruth out of a noose. While Bohannon, Eva, Durant, and Maggie rally to that cause, Louise watches over a fragile Ruth, who’s plagued by childhood memories. Arriving in town to supplement the uneasiness that’s descended is Mickey’s cousin, who’s pridefully brutal in exacting vengeance. The fate and legacy of men like Bohannon and Snow becomes a common topic of discussion.

Also look for:

  • A familiar fan favorite to make a return.
  • Durant to confess a truth to Bohannon.
  • An exquisitely quiet and wonderful scene between Psalms and Ruth.
  • Louise to suggest a course of action to Campbell.
  • Eva to have an overdue conversation with Bohannon.

It’s a taut hour that sets up the final two episodes of the season to follow. There are no easy answers to come.

Hell on Wheels airs at 9/8c on AMC. To get you ready, AMC is marathoning all of season four beginning at 10 am/9c Saturday morning. ICYMI, read our exclusive chat with Kasha Kropinski about “Return to Hellhere.
