Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas is in full swing, and tonight, the first original movie of the season, One Starry Christmas (which mixes a little Heartland with its Ho-Ho-Ho if you’re not quite ready for Christmas) premieres at 8/7c.
Sarah Carter, stars as Holly, a young astronomy professor hopeful who unexpectedly finds herself thrown together with a cowboy and his brother when her bus ride home for the holidays turns into an unlikely ride share. It’s a sweet, charming film about shaking up the ideas of what you’ve settled for and what you didn’t know you needed to be truly happy. It reminds me a little bit of last season’s A Very Merry Mix-Up.
The rest of the cast includes Damon Runyan, who we just saw on Haven, George Canyon (The Virginian), and Paul Popowich and Kathleen Laskey, who both appeared in last weekend’s The Good Witch’s Wonder. The movie was written by Rickie Castaneda and directed by John Bradshaw, who have driven a handful of holiday films for Hallmark, so they’re at home here.
