One of the most anticipated season premieres of the fall season (for us) has to be FOX’s Sleepy Hollow. After all, every single one of the show’s major characters is either in danger or behind bars. Then there’s that pesky matter of Katrina and Ichabod’s son being the Horseman of War. Whatever happens in Season 2 is going to be epic because there’s so much to deal with. Abbie’s in Purgatory. Ichabod is buried alive. Jennie’s been in an “accident.” Irving is in jail. The Headless Horseman has Katrina.
To help get you guys ready for the new season, we snagged some scoop from Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie as well as the show’s executive producers back in June. We also talked to Lyndie Greenwood at Comic-Con. And we even chatted with the Sleepy Hollow costume designer, Kristin Burke.
Season 2 synopsis, from FOX:
Sleepy Hollow returns this fall with all-new edge-of-your-seat mysteries and adventures, as the series’ heroic duo of Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills fends off the forces of evil to save not only their town, but the world.
Picking up immediately after the spellbinding events of the season one finale, Ichabod finds himself buried alive in a coffin; Abbie is trapped in purgatory; Ichabod’s wife, Katrina, has been kidnapped by the Headless Horseman; Capt. Frank Irving is behind bars for a murder he did not commit; and Abbie’s sister, Jenny, is among the wreckage of a horrific car crash.
These events were due in large part to the shocking revelation that Henry Parish, the trusted friend of Ichabod and Abbie, is actually Ichabod and Katrina’s son and the Second Horseman of the Apocalypse. Now, with Henry’s emergence as the Horseman of War, alongside the Headless Horseman, Sleepy Hollow has never been so close to destruction.
This season, fans will be introduced to a myriad of new faces in Sleepy Hollow, including Sheriff Leena Reyes and the enigmatic Nick Hawley, who add new drama, excitement and intrigue to the ever-thickening story of the mystical town. Sheriff Reyes’ no-nonsense attitude threatens Ichabod and Abbie’s progress, while Hawley’s appearance in town adds romantic intrigue and a touch of scandal. For their part, Ichabod and Abbie face a new slew of netherworld evils and must combat them, at times, using fire to fight fire. Plus, the realization that their No. 1 foe is actually Ichabod’s son places loyalties – and seemingly unbreakable friendships – to the ultimate test. As always, Ichabod continues to discover more about the modern world around him – from the joys of the modern-day banking system, to a new, perplexing exercise routine: yoga.
The season 2 premiere of Sleepy Hollow airs Monday, September 22nd at 9/8c on FOX.
