[Warning: General spoilers in images, article, and clips.]

Nicholas Sparks takes his turn producing TV tomorrow night as Lifetime premieres the Civil War era drama Deliverance Creek, a two-hour event that was initially billed as a backdoor pilot when it was greenlit a year ago, after its acquisition by Lifetime in 2012. No word on whether any plans for a series still linger. We’ll see how it does on a busy Saturday night.

The impressive cast roster includes Six Feet Under‘s Lauren Ambrose, Jericho‘s Skeet Ulrich, Wes Ramsey (Pretty Little Liars), Yaani King (Mad Men), Caitlin Custer (Teen Wolf), Christopher Backus (Elevator), Riley Smith (Hallmark Hall of Fame’s Christmas in Conway), Katherine Willis (Resurection), Christopher Baker (Sanctum), Barry Tubb (Revolution), and Joel Johnstone (the upcoming Astronaut Wives Club). It’s directed by Jon Amiel, who directed one of my favorites flicks, Tune in Tomorrow. and was written by Jane By Design‘s Melissa Carter.

Here’s the official logline: Two years into the Civil War, Belle Gatlin Barlowe (Ambrose) faces uncertainty in the life before her as she attempts to defend her family’s land by any means necessary. When the corrupt bank that runs their town pushes Belle into becoming an outlaw, the stakes become personal, setting off a chain of events that force her to question whether it’s better to be good or to survive.

I really liked the movie and want to know if it’s going to be a television show? And if not why did you end it with everything unfinished?

Hi Jill. We’re not directly affiliated with the network. At the time it was produced, it was intended to be a pilot. I haven’t heard anything further, so my guess is they decided not to go forward with a series.
