We’re morbidly curious, but also genuinely interested to see how Abigail’s surgery turns out. If we learn anything else about Thackery’s past from or because of her, it will be a bonus. Since Cleary’s so good at making deals, we wonder what kind of arrangement he and Sister Harriet will come to. Will Edwards’ clinic be discovered or will he continue to help patients of color undetected? And we meet two new characters in this episode: Bertie’s father Dr. Bertram Chickering, Sr. and Cornelia’s fiance Phillip.

In recovery, Abigail (Jennifer Ferrin) regrets her past choices involving Thackery. Cleary (Chris Sullivan) and Sister Harriet (Cara Seymour) strike one deal, then another. Bertie’s (Michael Angarano) father, Dr. Bertram Chickering, Sr. (Reg Rogers), scolds his son for his career choices. Lucy (Eve Hewson) learns of Thackery’s secret life.
