[Warning: General spoilers in article and images.]

Tonight, Motive pays off its season-long tease on what went down all those years ago with Angie and Cross. The kicker is that it ties out with the case of the week, which is super personal to Cross. It’s a taut, tight hour and Kristin Lehman, Warren Christie, and Laura Mennell are VERY good in it. U.S. audiences have the benefit of knowing who’s back for season three (although ABC hasn’t picked it up yet). When it aired in Canada, the third season hadn’t been announced, which made it even more of a nailbiter.

Here’s the official logline: With the League of Nations trial nearing, a major case from Detective Flynn and Sergeant Cross’s past resurfaces, and the fallout causes anguish for both. Meanwhile, the latest case becomes personal for Cross, and Angie knows they must come clean about their past. Look for Kenny Johnson, who we saw this spring on Bates Motel, in a key role, plus Continuum‘s Zak Santiago.

Motive airs tonight at 10/9c on ABC. At press time, there is no promo video posted. But trust me, it’s an AWESOME episode.
