Y’all know Hallmark movies are near and dear to my heart and there are some that stay parked on my DVR. I have a feeling there might be a few of you out there who share my love for Growing the Big One, a super-charming romantic comedy with Shannen Doherty and Kavan Smith. And if not, I hope you’ll check it out.

It originally aired on Hallmark Channel in the fall of 2010, and it’s been a reliable repeat on both Hallmark networks every fall since, but Hallmark Movie Channel is giving us a bonus airing tonight at 9/8c and tomorrow at 11 am/10 c. This is awesome news because I apparently deleted my copy of it. (Yes, it’s on DVD, but I want it back on my DVR).

I adore this movie. It’s sweet, light, and just a nice story. I love that Doherty got to do this. And it’s a great introduction to what Smith can do when he’s given larger roles. He’s most recently appeared in DirecTV’s Rogue, and he was Deputy Andy on Eureka, but he’s been a familiar face for years in Canadian-filmed projects. The film was directed by Mark Griffiths, who’s stayed in the Hallmark family since this movie with Nearlyweds, How to Fall in Love, and June in January.

Here’s the official logline: Radio DJ Emma Silver (Doherty) leads a chic city life in Seattle until she finds out her beloved grandfather has died. Traveling to his farm in quaint Valleyville, Washington to take care of the details, she is stunned to learn her grandfather has left her his farm, along with a sizable amount of debt. To keep the bank from foreclosing, Emma decides to enter Valleyville’s annual pumpkin growing contest. If she can win the grand prize of $50,000, she can save the farm. With the help of her neighbor, Seth (Smith), Emma takes on the challenge.

Update: The movie is now streaming on Hallmark Movies Now.

Here are a preview and peek behind the scenes.
