I love that both broadcast and cable are doing all these complex, exciting and interesting event series. It’s such a great time for television when actors we’re used to seeing only in feature films say yes to doing a project for television. I’m not saying there aren’t wonderfully talented actors and actresses working almost exclusively in TV today, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was that much more excited to hear that Maggie Gyllenhaal said yes to this miniseries.
Series synopsis, from Sundance TV:
The Honorable Woman is a wrenching tale of family, trust, deception and betrayal set against a fast-paced international backdrop of espionage and paranoia. The eight-part political thriller follows Nessa Stein (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who as a child witnessed the assassination of her father, a Zionist arms procurer. Now in her thirties, her sudden appointment to the House of Lords, apparently due to her tireless promotion of projects for reconciliation between the Israelis and Palestinians, creates an international political maelstrom.
The Honorable Woman premieres Thursday, July 31st at 10/9c on Sundance TV.
