Warning: Major spoilers Ahead

I may or may not have purchased a few volumes of the graphic novel in preparation for this press room. I know there’s a very vocal group of fans of the comic who really hated the movie, so I wanted to get the story straight from the source material and so did executive producers Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, as you’ll see below. I also spoke to series stars Matt Ryan, Charles Halford, Harold Perrineau and new cast member Angelica Celaya, who gave my table great scoop on what to expect this season. A word of warning: everyone at my table had seen the pilot when we talked to the cast and producers, so there really are spoilers ahead.

Series synopsis, from NBC:

Based on the wildly popular comic book series Hellblazer from DC Comics, seasoned demon hunter and master of the occult John Constantine (Matt Ryan) is armed with a ferocious knowledge of the dark arts and a wickedly naughty wit. He fights the good fight — or at least he did. With his soul already damned to hell, he’s decided to abandon his campaign against evil until a series of events thrusts him back into the fray, and he’ll do whatever it takes to protect the innocent. With the balance of good and evil on the line‎, Constantine will use his skills to travel the country, find the supernatural terrors that threaten our world and send them back where they belong. After that, who knows… maybe there’s hope for him and his soul after all.

Constantine premieres Friday, October 24th at 10/9c on NBC.
