[Warning: General spoilers in article, images, and preview.]

I get it when shows play make believe and suspend all animation, but when they assign an actual, factual diagnosis to something, sh-it gets real, because Google and WebMD can tell you exacyly what that means. I assumed Annie’s thing would be psychological in the realm of PTSD, but instead, TPTB gave her something physical–myocarditis. It’s realistic given Annie’s travels in the world, but it’s also tricky because it’s a debilitating condition.

I have a friend in  the real world whose myocarditis escalated to heart failure, so I had to call bullsh-t loud and clear than Annie Walker could even consider resuming a spy career with that limitation. It’s hard, and its symptoms can knock you on your ass. Period.

I Tweeted as much to the show and its writers last week, and they responded, so they’re aware that once you name it, you have to man up. So far, Annie’s only had to tell McQuaid, but she’s going to have to lay that out for the DPD pretty soon or she’ll be jeopardizing more than herself. We’ll see where they go.

Tonight, we follow up with Annie and McQuaid trying to get Altan out of South America while back home, Joan meets Arthur’s new work wife (Perrey Reeves) and Auggie and Hayley (Amy Jo Johnson) keep it professional in the office. The official logline is: After a botched escape attempt, Annie and McQuaid combine forces to get out of Venezuela. Meanwhile, Joan works with Arthur and his new co-worker to extract their fellow operatives.
