OK, kids, we’re going two for two on OMG, DRAMA, here at TV Movie Goodness, but again, the casting is what sells it so I’m giving it a plug.

Lifetime rolls out Stolen From the Womb, a “based (ish) on a true story” tale of a woman who fakes a pregnancy, befriends a woman who’s actually pregnant, and then kidnaps her to steal the baby. Motive‘s Laura Mennell (recently added to Haven) plays the unstable not-mama, Chelsey. Cedar Cove‘s Corey Sevier (who will also be on Motive this Wednesday) is her husband. Larisa Oleynik is Diane, the woman who Chelsey targets, and Cedar Cove‘s Sebastian Spence plays her husband.

Here’s the official logline:  Diane and Rob Woodley are thrilled over the news of Diane’s pregnancy. Chelsey, a woman desperate to have a baby, discovers that she’s unable to have one of her own, and stalks the unsuspecting Diane with the intentions of stealing her baby. When Diane’s due date approaches, Chelsey kidnaps her and gives her a labor-inducing drug, forcing Diane to deliver the baby. Chelsey takes the baby and Diane is found alive. Now Diane and Rob must do everything they can to find their newborn, who has a rare congenital condition that needs to be treated immediately, before it is too late.

Lifetime’s been down this road before, with Gina Philips and Motive‘s Warren Christie in 2007’s My Baby is Missing, which isn’t a half-bad yarn. It’s out of rotation right now, but for a while there you could catch it once a month on Lifetime or LMN.

Stolen From the Womb airs Saturday at 8/7c and repeats again at midnight/11c.

Hi Barbie. It was filmed in the Vancouver area. I’m not sure exactly which town.

Is this movie filmed in the same town that “The Good Witch” movies are filmed? I want to visit this town so much.

Hi Kathleen. No, this was filmed in British Columbia, and The Good Witch films in Ontario.

The scene in the cafe, where the phone gets left and Diane gets drugged is the corner of Laity Street and 224th Avenue in Maple Ridge. You can see a sign at some point with “Haney” on it. Haney was how the town was referred to before it incorporated other areas.

Sorry, I made a mistake with the above. I’m on my break on nightshift and I got interrupted when I was typing. The locale is the corner of Dewdney Trunk Road and 224th Avenue. It is the downtown of Maple Ridge. In another shot in the film, a sign displays “River Road.” River Road runs along the Fraser River. The scenes that are flatter appear to be towards the Pitt Meadows side.

I was wondering what true story is this based on, because there is so many out there. I was curious as to where this particular story to place and reading more about it.
